As in every sector, there are special terms that we frequently use or come across in the domain world. It is very important for us to understand the meaning of these terms well for the healthy functioning of our domain-related business. The terms we need to know about the domain world and their explanations are as follows;

    Domain Name: The domain name is the name and address of your website on the internet. Without this address, internet users cannot access your website. If there were no domains, we could only access websites with IP addresses. Therefore, since people who want to visit your website will not know your IP address, you should choose a domain name and determine an easier and memorable address for your site.

    Whois: It is the identities of the domains that contain the contact information of the owner, especially the registration and expiry date of the domain.

    Whois Privacy Protect: It is used when the contact information of the domain is not wanted to be seen by others. If this feature is available in the company where the domain is registered, it is activated so that the real contact information of the domain owner is not visible when a whois query is made for the domain.

    Domain Status: This expression, which is used to specify domain status codes, shows the current state of the domain (such as active, pending, locked, expired).

    Active Status: If the status of a domain is "Active Status", it means that this domain is being used by someone else. Of course, when you get curious and go to the site, you can see that there is nothing on the site. This should not surprise you, because the registration status of domains and whether the site is empty or not are different things. The person who buys the domain leases this domain for a certain period of time and opens the site if he wants, or does not open it.

    Available Status: If the status of a domain is "Available Status", this domain is idle, that is, it has not been taken by anyone. You can register this domain by any domain registration service company.

    On Hold(Registrar Hold) Status: Domains are not deleted immediately after they expire. The person who registers the domain is given a period of approximately 1.5 months. During this period, only the registered user can renew. It cannot be transferred at the same time.

    Redemption Period: If the registrant does not renew the domain name during the "On Hold Status" period, this time the "Redemption Period" period is given as a last chance. However, it is very costly to renew your domain during this time.

    Pending Delete: During this period, the domain can no longer be renewed neither by the registrant nor by another person. It takes about 5 days. At the end of this period, the domain changes to "Available Status". In other words, it is a situation where the domains are wasted.
